Family We have had a few awesome and exhausting weeks since we last wrote an update! Now we are writing as a family of 3. What a blessing! Milla is a sweet little girl, now almost 6 weeks old. She is now smiling and cooing, and we see more of her little personality every day. We are having fun! Milla playing with grandpa. Over a day we became parents. We will learn for the rest of our lives,...

Family It’s been a month… and another month closer to welcoming our baby! I can say that that is in our thoughts a lot these days. It’s amazingly exciting to think that we’ll be parents any day really. Frida is now almost 38 weeks, and the midwife says that our baby is now full term and any time is a good time to show up. That was another huge milestone for me to hear that....

Yes it has been WAY too long since I have decided to sit down and write a little update. But, I’m about to make a pre-new year’s resolution to be better at keeping our friends and family informed on what’s happening in our lives, and the ministry here in London. I’ve been encouraged in the last few weeks that people have said they’re wondering what we’re up to...

8 August 2011 - Our Summer In Pictures
We thought we’d write a quick blog with some pictures of what we’ve been doing this summer. It’s not exhaustive, but here we’re just so thankful for the experiences we’ve had and the people we’ve gotten to spend time with. We’ve been so blessed! Frida’s youngest sister, Clara, graduated in June. We went fishing with my sister Emma and her fiancée...

This is the neighborhood we’ve lived in this last year. It’s our last night in flat #6 on Lambolle Place here in North London. Oh, we have so many reasons to write… it’s been just over a year since we first moved to London, it’s just been too long since we’ve given a little update, and we’re traveling tomorrow to Sweden, then next week to California. Yeah! ...

Amazing provision from God! Things all happen so fast… it looks like we’ll be meeting here (picture below) on Sundays beginning this Sunday, Easter. A beautiful church called St. Saviour’s, in Chalk Farm. Just down the hill from us. How cool is that! Time to get ready for Bible Study at Yumchaa. We’ve just been so overwhelmed by God’s provision this week. Wow....

This is a short documentary about what’s happening in Burma/Myanmar right now. It’s not easy to watch, and not necessarily pretty either. I believe as Christians we need to know what’s going on in our world and be faithful to what God calls us to do about it. Of course it’s not in our strength we can do anything, but He sure can! That’s our hope! Lots more info...

Isn’t England beautiful! We took a day trip with Lauren and Joelle to Stratford-Upon-Avon, Shakespeare’s hometown. There’s been a lot happening in the world, in London, in our church, and in our families. As we write we’re hearing updates on the radio about protests downtown, updates on the conflict in Libya, nuclear reactors in Japan, etc. We’ve also just had a...

Above: the view a few minutes ago from Primrose Hill, looking south over central London (right when we got home it started hailing!). Often we walk through Primrose Hill park going to or from Yumchaa on Wednesdays. It’s an amazing place to both be reminded of God’s beauty and to pray for London. It’s one of our favorite places in London… and I’m sure you can tell...

My view on to Fortess Rd sitting upstairs in Cafe de la Paix as I write this post. Update Today, we have been married 25 months. Looking forward to our Silver Anniversary :) Yesterday was Frida’s birthday. It was a wonderful day! Frida and I have both now given notice to our jobs that we will be leaving in June. As Frida mentioned a few days ago, we are looking forward to opening a...

My beautiful home in Sweden, Jan 2011 It’s been a couple of challenging weeks, but God is so faithful! So, long story short… We have purchased tickets to go visit both Sweden and California for a month each this summer: + Sweden: 6-13 June & 16 July - 9 August + California: 13 June - 12 July We will quit our jobs before this, and our hope is to open up a cafe when we come...

Picture from here We just made this carrot & lentil soup and it was so good! The flavor was mild, consistency great and it was super easy and quick to make! Just thought we could share it here. I will definitely make it again! We substituted the cumin seeds for curry powder, and chicken stock instead of veg stock, and I forgot to add the milk. Otherwise I followed the recipe :) Yes, I have...

On the lock wakling home from Camden Town. A few thoughts on 2010 as we look forward to a new year! After nine months of making our move to Europe (Sweden then to London), I feel we have learned many things that can kind of fit into three categories: We are so blessed; We are so weak; and, God is so good! 1) We are so blessed! Two things that come to mind as I think of how blessed we are, are...

Lussekatter Top up electricity is great except when you run out… like we did this morning! Luke was in the shower and all of a sudden the shower turned off (yes, our shower operates electrically), as well as the light, fan, heater, etc :) Good thing he was almost done! We had tried topping up last night, but the first place was just about to close so they sent us down the street, the...

Out our kitchen window. I just took this picture 5 minutes ago. It’s our first real snow in London… we got a little the other day, but now we’ve got a few inches. Isn’t it absolutely beautiful!

Three evidences that we’re becoming a bit more British. 1. We’re cooking things like Yorkshire Hotpot and beans on potatoes. 2. We traveled 10 miles in 1.5 hours to a friends house for Thanksgiving and said to each other “We made great time!” 3. I’m getting tea stains on my teeth :) We’re leaving in a few minutes to travel to Hertford (only about 15...

Happy Thanksgiving! We are particularly thankful because WE GOT OUR PASSPORTS BACK!!!!! Luke now has a Visa in his passport that says: Valid until: 09 NOV 2015 Type of document: Residence Card of a Family Member of an EEA National Remarks: Employment and Business Activities Allowed This is such a blessing from God. However, the passports did go on an adventure before they reached us. We...

Gill’s house in Risby. Risby was founded in 973, and the church was built in the 1100s. It’s been a couple of eventful and really good weeks. Luke has turned 29 and we celebrated in Risby, Suffolk, a few hours north of London. The closest town to Risby is called Bury St Edmunds, and yes, I asked and St Edmund was buried here, but they’ve since lost him! Brits crack me up! We...

A view out our window. We didn’t do anything with the colors… crazy beautiful sunrise. It’s been a very encouraging week! God is so good and He knows exactly what we need! We visited Calvary Chapel Cambridge a couple weeks ago… and it was just beautiful and refreshing to be there together and explore the town a bit as well. I think we forgot to send an update for September… and as I realize that, I’m almost too late to send one for October. Wow! Our God is good, and we know that every time we write an update, we will have positive news as long as our...

Us, a few weeks ago… but I’d say we still look pretty much the same :) Today has been the most beautiful weather since we’ve been here. At least for me… it has just been one of those amazing fall (I’m actually trying to learn to say “autumn”) days where the sun is bright, the air is crisp and has the amazing fresh smells. Actually some of the smells are of...

Random observations: 1. I was just looking through the magazine London Property, and saw a house being sold with a 138 year lease… Ouch! I wonder how that works… 2. Our favorite British phrase thus far: “skew whiff”. If we look it up in a dictionary the synonyms are: askew, awry, cockeyed, lopsided and wonky… weird! 3. We’ve learned that people say...

Another Monday is here. Luke and I will head out to Camden in a few minutes to run some errands. I need to get some wellies as I’ve gotten soaked walking to work too many times now. These are the ones I’m looking to buy! They are called Joules Wellibobs. I think they are cute! Today Lauren arrives and later this evening we will go over to the house for a potluck together with...
